1 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter 1 egg - well beaten 1 c. milk 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. raisins, ground 1/2 c. nuts, chopped 2 c. flour Rind of 1 orange, ground
Icing: Save juice of orange and dissolve 1 c. sugar in it and juice of 1/2 lemon.
Pour batter in 8 x 8 x 2 -inch pan and bake at 350 degrees 30 or 35 minutes. Immediately after taking cake from the oven, spoon the orange juice and sugar mixture over it with a teaspoon. I usually double this.
